From traditional West African drumming to South African kwaito, from spirituals to hip-hop, Black life and history has been dynamically displayed and contested through sound. Shana Redmond excavates the sonic histories of these communities through a genre emblematic of Black solidarity and citizenship: anthems. An interdisciplinary cultural history, Anthem reveals how this “sound franchise” contributed to the growth and mobilization of the modern, Black citizen. In this case , I really wanted to sing praises about this book.
Naomi is a poor lobsterman's daughter who was accepted at the prestigious Yale University as a Philosophy major under a coveted scholarship program. Good book!. Oh well. In defense of the authors, the only thing good that I can say is that they have a few interesting examples.
The book fails very badly at offering advice to mangers about the processes and structures that need to be in place to handle creative destruction. I highly recommend this book to couples and individuals struggling with these issues and for anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of diverse relationships. I'd also actually like to see a bigger version of this book because I've seen Miles' prints at very large sizes and they are pretty amazing. This book is by the man who revolutionized bread baking and it is excellent. The review mentioned (praised) Nina Burleigh's book and it didn't disappoint. Just the right balance. The music
