Journey. Poems describing some of the roads on which the author has travelled and the experiences and people he encountered along the way. Some of these journeys are metaphorical, some are metaphysical and some are just the passage of time.
James Sapsard was born in the New Forest and lives in London. He was the last barrister called to the Bar by Lord Denning. In 1999 he visited Screengems, North Carolina at the invitation of Frank Capra Jr. and was on set during the filming of Dawson's Creek after a meeting with John Kretschmer. He is the author of the screenplays, "Lovers, Victims And Heroes, Mr. Pinter", "South Of Left Bank" and "You Murdering Barristers!" the working title copy of which was read by Simon Beresford for Ralph Fiennes and by Lindy King for Ewan McGregor and of several other books of poetry. As a part time actor, his most recent role was as Lou Tanner in Neil Simon's, The Gingerbread Lady. His short story, "The Therapy Of A Violent And Professional Man" was shortlisted by Biscuit Publishing in 2007. He is also a photographer and digital media artist and his work has been published in the online digital art magazines, Revolutionart and Weekend Artists.
Art making is as difficult as ever. The chapters cover the following topics:
1 - history of offshore drilling
2 - the move into deeper and deeper water in the eighties
3 - exploration
4 - drilling and completion
5 - development systems
6 - fixed structures -- compliant towers, concrete, etc.
7 - floating systems -- TLPs, FPSOs, spars, and so on
8 - subsea systems
9 - topsides
10 - piplines, flowlines, and risers
11 - technology and the future
The writing is sound, and there are plenty of decent graphics -- pictures of the gigantic Bullwinkle platform; photographs and schematics of equipment and layouts; and a couple of colour plates showing seismic analysis displays. Did the Cambodians offer an area defense of the island? If not, was the operation more akin to a raid? Were boats used? If not and only helocopters, then how did the failure of the mission relate to the helocopters' base? Whether from land or sea, was not the prob
