From Amelia Earhart’s Lockheed Electra to the MH370 Boeing 777, at least 100 planes, and the people in them, have disappeared from the skies since humans first took to the air. Accidents and terrorism are threats, yet a person has a one in 5,000 chance of perishing in a car crash compared to a one in 11 million chance of being involved in a fatal plane crash. However, the mystery and speculation surrounding a vanishing plane generates great drama. Here are some of the most curious—and mostly unresolved—disappearances in 100 years of flight.
Chris McLeod was a newspaper journalist for more than 40 years and has always been keenly interested in investigative stories, particularly those with elements of mystery, conspiracy and suspicion.

On this point it will help to remember that the author is first and foremost a priest. True, not because he was necessarily "unwaveringly committed to justice," but because he craved legitimacy and respectability. This one slim paperback has brought me more understanding of the Japanese people--particularly of those who are Christian by heritage--than a college education did, and that was all in the first few chapters.
